No Brasil as parcerias público-privadas são modalidades de contratos de concessão. A Lei 11.079, de 30/12/2004, regula as parcerias público-privadas no Brasil. De acordo com as leis brasileiras as principais características das PPP são o longo prazo (contratos de 5 a 35 anos), valor mínimo de R$20.000.000,00 (vinte milhões de reais), contratação conjunta de obras e serviços a serem fornecidas pelo parceiro privado e a responsabilidade fiscal pelo poder público.
