Project Deed (2011)

GoldLinQ was awarded the contract for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of stage one of the Gold Coast Light Rail project in 2011. The design and construction element of the project will run for approximately three years from contract award and it is anticipated that it will be completed by 2014. This includes the manufacture and supply of the trams and rail systems, track laying, station and structures, and the assembly of the overhead power supply. The operations and maintenance is for 15 years, which includes running tram services to the timetable, cleanliness and maintenance of the trams, and maintenance of the system infrastructure. It is a DBO and so the operator is paid construction payments against the completion of construction milestones to cover the cost of construction, and then receives service payments during the operating period to cover operations.
