As an integral part of value chains, both within and across international borders, logistics firms facilitate trade and commerce and help businesses get their products to customers. Supply chain disruptions to the sector caused by the pandemic could, therefore, impact competitiveness, economic growth, and job creation.
As a result, air travel has fallen sharply, which has prompted airlines to cut capacity. Many have been closed by governments to contain the spread of the virus. The result is a sharp fall in revenues. Given the importance of airports to the economic development of cities, countries, and regions, the broader impact of COVID-19 on the global economy is enormous.
Key features of the North West Rail Link - principal project deed:
Approval – Transport for NSW is responsible for obtaining relevant planning approvals for the project. The operating company is responsible for obtaining and complying with all other required regulatory approvals.
Land access – Transport for NSW has acquired the main sites required for the project and grants the operating company a license to use these sites for the project.
In this report six case studies were selected:
1. The M7 Motorway in New South Wales, which opened in December 2005
2. The Southbank Institute of Technology in Queensland, which opened in October 2008
3. The Port of Melbourne Channel Deepening project, which opened in November 2009
4. The Northern Expressway in South Australia, which opened in September 2010 (note that Tiger Brennan Drive was not operational at the time of preparing this book.)
5. Tiger Brennan Drive, in the Northern Territory, which is due to open late in 2010
Key features of the Project Agreement for the Metro Tunnel Project:
Land acquisitions and approvals – the state assumes primary responsibility for:
making the land needed for the project available to the developer (clause 6); and
obtaining the key planning approvals required for the project (clause 8).
