Keppel Seghers Waste-to-Energy Plant, Singapore

Following the 1979 construction of Singapore’s first Waste-To-Energy (WTE) plant, the Singapore government would go on to construct three more WTE plants for the country under Design-Build (DB) contracts with the private-sector. This left the government responsible for the financing and operational risk, which was also capital intensive in construction and operation.

Dyson is hiring: Here’s how its new 110,000 sqft global HQ at St James Power Station looks like

Singapore is a hub for Dyson’s research and engineering teams, as well as commercial, advanced manufacturing and supply chain operations. Over 1,400 Dyson people work in Singapore, of whom 560 employees are engineers and scientists.

While Dyson may have moved to a new location, the philosophy is the same. The building itself underwent restoration works, including repainting and replacing building materials to preserve the original architecture of the building.

Singapore solar deployment

Solar deployment models

There are three solar deployment models that you, as the JTC lessee, may consider and choose from:

Rooftop licensing

A solar vendor will install PV panels on the premises and pay rental to you. The solar-generated energy is then exported to the national grid by the solar vendor.

Solar leasing

A solar vendor will install PV panels on the premises. The solar-generated energy is thereafter sold to you at a discounted rate, to offset your building power consumption.

Joint Press Release by HDB & EDB: HDB and eight other Government Organisations participate in next Solar Leasing Tender under Solarnova Programme

The SolarNova programme led by EDB, in partnership with HDB, aggregates demand for solar energy across public sector agencies. This results in economies of scale which lowers the cost of electricity generated from solar energy, and thus accelerates solar adoption in Singapore. The SolarNova programme will contribute strongly to Singapore’s plan to raise the adoption of solar power to 350 MWp by 2020.

Whole-of-government coordination to accelerate solar deployment

  • Singapore has been taking pragmatic and measured steps in promoting solar energy as a sustainable renewable source.
  • Launched in 2014, the SolarNova program is a whole-of-government effort to accelerate the deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • The government took the lead in rolling out the rooftop PV systems across public housing and government buildings in collaboration with solar developers.

HDB to Bring Solar Energy to Over 8,000 Blocks through SolarNova Programme

The Housing & Development Board (HDB) has called the seventh solar leasing tender under the SolarNova programme. The SolarNova programme, led jointly by HDB and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), accelerates the deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Singapore and helps drive the growth of Singapore’s solar industry.

Singapore - Water Price

Water pricing is an important and effective mechanism to reflect the scarcity value of water. Water is priced not only to recover the full costs of its supply and production, but also to incorporate the higher cost of producing water from unconventional sources, specifically NEWater and desalinated water.

The water price was last revised in 2000, over the period from 1997 to 2000.

DBS Bank provides SGD40 million loan facility to Sembcorp Industries for Singapore's first single large-scale floating solar photovoltaic system

Singapore, 20 Aug 2020 - DBS Bank has provided a SGD40 million loan facility to Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) to build a 60 megawatt-peak (MWp) floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system on Tengeh Reservoir in Tuas. The bank is the sole financier for the project.
