This standard form contract for waste collection was developed by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) in collaboration with Clarkslegal LLP, a British law firm, and last updated in 2009. The contract may be used as a template for the provision of collection and recycling services as well as for instances where the operation of household waste recycling centers, transfer stations and/or treatment or final disposal sites is concerned. Amongst others, the contract set outs provisions relating to the respective service delivered by the provider, premises and assets, monitoring by the public authority, payment of the respective service, indemnities, health and safety matters as well as insurance and sub-contracting. At the same time, it comprises helpful drafting guidance whenever alternative clauses to those suggested in the standard form contract might be considered.
