Document Details:

The European Commission has published the annual country reports from National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) on compliance with the provisions on open internet for the second consecutive year. The NRA reports were sent to the Commission and the Body of the European Regulators of Electronic Communications (BEREC). They cover the timeframe from 1 May 2017 until 30 April 2018. It is the second reporting period since the open internet rules became applicable on 30 April 2016. The reports will serve as a basis for BEREC's Report on the implementation of the net neutrality rules expected by the end of the year.

The reports will also be used by the Commission in the next DESI Report and for the report on the open internet rules to be presented in April 2019 to the European Parliament and to the Council. According to the EU open internet rules (Article 5 of Regulation (EU) 2015/2120), National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) should closely monitor and ensure compliance with the provisions on open internet. NRAs are requested to publish annual reports and share these with the Commission and BEREC.
