The inspiration for publishing the essays stems from the international conference on “Mobilizing the Private Sector for Public Education,” jointly convened by the World Bank and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, Program on Education Pol- icy and Governance (PEPG) at Harvard University in October 2005.
