Urban sprawl has spilled over onto surrounding provinces that are within daily commuting distance, with population in these areas now reaching 5 million. About 22.5 million motorized trips are made each day—70 percent of which are taken on public transportation.
Procuring Infrastructure Public-Private Partnerships 2020 is designed to help governments improve their PPP regulatory quality. By benchmarking the regulatory frameworks of economies around the world against internationally recognized good practices in procuring PPPs, this assessment identifies areas for improvement in the preparation, procurement, and management of PPPs.

After emerging from the crippling power crisis that occurred in the early 1990s, the Philippine government embarked on an industry privatization and restructuring program envisioned to ensure the adequate supply of electricity to energize its developing economy.
