As a result, air travel has fallen sharply, which has prompted airlines to cut capacity. Many have been closed by governments to contain the spread of the virus. Every year the world generates over 2 billion metric tons of municipal solid waste. Note 1 Assessing Operational PPP Portfolios
This note discusses key operational considerations when trying to maintain services during the COVID-19 crisis and recalibrating the PPP project in the short term. It builds on early lessons from the pandemic response and provides general guidance that could assist governments when assessing their policy and legal options for addressing COVID-19 impacts on PPP projects that are already underway.

SNGs in emerging markets face significant challenges brought on by the pandemic, for example, significantly less use of public transit, dramatically lower sales tax revenue due to retail and tourism closures, and limited capacity to mount an effective health response. Low levels of preparedness compound these vulnerabilities.
