Serbia: Roads Report

In Serbia, all motorways in Serbia are tolled. The tolling principle is based on vehicle class and distance travelled. The type of the pay toll system implemented in Serbia, in 2006, is a closed one with front pay toll stations only at the border crossing points. Due to historical reasons different tariffs exist for domestic and foreign vehicles. The paper describes the present and future tolling policy, new tolling system, the influence of tolling income on the total turnover of the Road Directorate of Serbia with special emphasis on the maintenance of motorways, and forecasted tolling income in the near future.
