The primary legislation governing the telecommunications sector in Kenya is the Kenya Information and Communications Act (KICA). This law sets out the general legal framework for telecommunications in Kenya.

The law came into force on 1 October 1998 (The Kenya Communication Act) and has undergone numerous amendments.
