Resources: Resources: This case study examines how the most populous island in The Bahamas, which faces water scarcity, has cut non-revenue water loses in half in the first four years of a non-revenue water performance-based contract (NRW-PBC). Resources: In 1998, Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia and home to 1.5 million people, was running out of water. Water was rationed for five months. This case study showcases how the State Waterworks Department worked with a contractor under a performance-based contract (PBC) to reduce non-revenue water (NRW). Resources: In the late 1990s, the city of Bangkok was losing about 40 percent of water production. To reduce the losses and meet demand from a growing population, the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority hired contractors to reduce NRW under a PCB, increasing the water supply to the city’s six million inhabitants.
