This report aims to assist governments, project developers, and financiers in understanding key transaction-enabling conditions and financial structures to mobilize finance for Emissions reduction credit (ERC) generation.

The report was prepared based on consultations with experts from international private finance and development finance institutions largely carried out through a series of working group meetings focused on the key challenges constraining lending and investment for ERC activities and how to overcome them, recent case studies of ERC financing, and potential approaches to further advancing ERC financing in Emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs).

A significant amount of effort has gone into quantifying the supply and demand for ERCs globally. There has been less focus on understanding the scale of investment into ERC-generating activities or analyzing the financing structures that are best suited to accelerate capital flow to ERC activities.

In this report you will find a review the current landscape of ERC financing and key options for scaling up debt for ERC activities in EMDEs.
