India is accelerating infrastructure investment through mechanisms like Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs), enabling asset monetization without relinquishing ownership.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) recently completed its third InvIT round via the National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT), raising over ₹16,000 crore for 889 km of highways. InvITs function similarly to mutual funds, allowing investors to benefit from steady income streams generated by toll roads and other infrastructure assets.

With over ₹26,000 crore mobilized to date and 15 roads under NHIT management, InvITs offer a scalable solution to bridge India’s infrastructure financing gap while attracting domestic and international capital.
